Good evening guys i’m back with another easy tutorial which will allow you to whiten teeth very easily. So let’s get down to business. if you get stuck at any time take a look at the video below.

1. Load up your image and duplicate it with CTRL and J
2. Zoom all the way into your image so we just have the teeth showing, like the example below.

3. We now need to select the teeth we want to whiten to do this I will use the polygonal lasso tool, to select this tool press the L key on your keyboard and click on the edge of the front tooth. We will start with the top set of teeth first. Next select another point on the tooth by clicking again this can be seen in the example below:

4. Go around the outline of every tooth making sure you only select the teeth and not any gum. It’s important to go in one direction until you get back to where you started, once you reach this point click on the first point you selected and you should have something that looks like the image below:

5. Right click on your image and then select the option “feather”

6. Type between 2 and 3 into the next box and click ok. You will now see that our selection has been made smaller, this will make sure our edges aren’t too sharp making the end result more realistic.
7. Once we have our new selection we will need to copy and paste it onto our layer pallets, this is done by pressing CTRL + C and then CTRL + V. You should now see a new layer on the layer pallet. Rename this layer teeth.

8. To change colour of the teeth we need to make some adjustments to do this press CTRL + U (make sure teeth layer is selected). Alternatively you can go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. You should then have a screen that looks like the following:

9. Make sure the preview box is ticked and then click where it says master in the drop down box. From the selection of this box click on “yellows” and take the saturation slider all the way to the left. You should have something that looks like this:

At this point you should have seen a change in the colour of the teeth, however their more gray than white so before clicking ok on this screen click back where it says “yellows” and select the option “master”.
Once you have the master option on your screen slide the “lightness” option to the right hand side. Now I can’t give you an exact amount to change as it will vary from picture to picture so just make the adjustments on what you think looks right. Here is what I come up with:

Once you have done that click ok.
10. You have now successfully changed the colour of the teeth, to do the same to the bottom teeth click back on the original layer copy and make the selection just like before and carry out the same process. Once you are done you should have something that looks like this:

Congratulations you now know how to change the color of a person’s teeth. If you have any questions please pop them in the comments section below.
